About Us

The Virginia Vintage Aircraft Museum is a tax-exempt, educational charity that exists on voluntary public support.

The museum operates two 1946 ERCO Model 415-C “Ercoupe” airplanes. The planes are painted to honor the Training Command units of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.

One of our Ercoupes is painted to replicate the 1955 North American T-28B “Trojan” which was an actual Navy trainer that our museum operated for 21 years.

The Museum strives to inform the public about the unique history of the Ercoupe by displaying its planes at air shows, fly-ins and similar venues.

We will soon be providing free rides for children ages 8-17 years old. This will be a comprehensive aviation experience. We will spend most of a day with one or two children at a time. We’ll give them a tour of the airport, show them a variety of planes from corporate jets to ultra-lights, talk to them about opportunities in aviation, then fly them to another airport and back so they can experience the thrill of flight and see the utility of general aviation airplanes.

In addition, the museum conducts tours and lectures for individuals and groups at its hangars in Richmond, Virginia, and Calhoun, Georgia, and elsewhere.
